If you’ve been in Brooklyn Bridge Park or on the Manhattan Bridge bike path lately and seen something colorful out of the corner of your eye, you’re probably seeing artist Tom Fruin’s Watertower, the 4th work in his Icon series. This sculpture, made from locally-sourced scraps of plexiglas, sits high on the rooftop of 20 Jay Street in Dumbo. Every evening, beginning at dusk and lasting until morning, the installation is illuminated by light sequences designed by Ryan Holsopple. Watertower opened June 7th and will remain a part of Dumbo’s skyline through June 2013. You can read more about the project and Tom Fruin’s work here. If you’re in the area, check it out!
