Tied Baby Quilt #2

by Leslie on May 21, 2012

After I made this tied quilt baby playmat, my friend asked if I would make a girl version for her soon-to-be-born niece. I was happy to oblige, if only for the chance to pick out girly fabrics! I really am excited to have a boy, but come on, girl fabrics, girl clothes, girl anything – they’re just cuter. For the quilt, I decided to use Moda’s Walk in the Woods fabric (cloud birds for the front and cloud poppy pez for the back – both from Purl Soho) and red yarn for the ties. Instead of the jumbo ric rac I used on my original quilt for the edge, I chose medium sized red pom pom trim to mirror the shape of the apples in the fabric. You can find the step-by-step sewing instructions here (make sure the pom pom balls are facing in when you sew the edges). It really is a simple project and turned out so cute. I hope she likes it!
