Antiquing in Connecticut

by Leslie on May 14, 2012

I’m currently in Litchfield County, Connecticut visiting Jolian (he’s working here for the next month). We spent the weekend antiquing in the area and had a lot of success. We found a few things for the baby’s room and some other goodies I couldn’t pass up. Jolian had found the rocker pictured below last weekend at the Elephant’s Trunk Country Flea Market in New Milford. I wasn’t so sure about it at first, but started to come around once I sat in it. It’s really comfortable and was only $20! It definitely needs to be recovered and refinished. We found some nice navy striped grain sacks at an antique shop in Kent, CT that I plan to use as the upholstery. I picture brass nailheads all along the edges. What do you think? We also found some vintage wooden grape crates that I want to use as storage containers for under the crib. I might add casters to the bottom so they’re easy to pull out.
