My Bodega Flower Trick

by Leslie on March 21, 2012

One of the many great things about living in New York is that you can buy really beautiful flowers on almost every corner for really cheap. I bought these gorgeous parrot tulips at my local bodega for $7.99. I love to give them as hostess gifts, but before I do, I give them a quick makeover. You see, they come wrapped in plastic and cheap looking paper stapled together on the seam. They scream, “She just bought me on the corner for $5!” By taking off that paper and plastic (I leave the plastic bag on the bottom of the stems so the paper doesn’t get wet) and rewrapping it with kraft paper (I bought a roll for $4 at my local UPS) and any ribbon you have on hand, you quickly transform those bodega flowers into a bouquet that looks like it came from a fancy flower shop!
