Sunset in Kuta, Bali

by Leslie on December 23, 2011

The problem with ending the trip on a tiny island off Lombok was that getting back to New York from there wasn’t so easy. From Lombok we took a boat to Sanur, Bali, transferred to Kuta, spent the night, flew the next morning to Singapore, spent the night, flew the next morning to Hong Kong where we had an 8 hour layover before boarding our 16 hour flight to New York. I’m tired just typing that.

There were 2 highlights of this hellish return home though – the most delicious pork dumplings I have ever tasted at People’s Park Food Centre in Singapore and a stunning sunset in Kuta. Kuta itself is pretty awful – a sort of Cancun for Australians. But while we were there, we joined everyone on the beach to experience one of the most phenomenal sunsets I’ve ever seen. As you can see from the pictures, it just got better and better.

A fitting end to an amazing vacation and these travel posts.¬†This is my last one. I’m so sad it’s over. This trip has truly been one of the best experiences of my life.¬†Thanks so much for following along. I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as I’ve enjoyed sharing it.

Back to recipes and crafts on Monday. Happy Holidays! xx

I have loved every second of your updates!!! I’m so glad you had an amazing time. Your pictures are beautiful. I’m sorry I forgot to tell you about the flies on Lembongon – the seaweed attracts it. But I still loved the stinky seaweed farms. I thought it was so cool that this community of people live such a simple life, most of them being born on Lembongon and never even leaving it. Thank god you found dream beach!!! Sorry about the construction at Coconuts – and I know- those stairs are a bitch. :( Love you so much glad you’re back safe and sound and can’t wait to hear more about the trip. Merry Christmas!!!
