Jane’s Carousel

by Leslie on October 13, 2011

A few weeks ago Jolian and I were walking home from dinner at the Vinegar Hill House and noticed a new structure lit up in the Dumbo section of Brooklyn Bridge Park. Upon closer inspection we discovered Jane’s Carousel has finally opened! This gorgeous carousel was originally built in 1922 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company and has been restored and placed in a glass pavilion designed by French architect Jean Nouvel. It’s really spectacular and the location on the water is perfect. Walking around down there makes me feel like I’m in Paris. If you have kids, you should definitely check it out. You can even have birthday parties and private events there, with my favorite part, a carousel cake made at nearby pastry shop, Almondine. Their croissants and pain au chocolats are unreal, I can only imagine the cake they will create. I can’t wait for Tessa to come back to see it!
